A year in review.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog that I will try to update, as it is one of my many resolutions.
This past year of 2013, has been extremely life changing for me. I want to walk everything through my resolutions, and the big events this year, because let's face it- Facebook updates seriously do not do it justice. I always like to look back on the posts that I made. So I created a collage using one of those silly apps. But I still don't think it really satisfied me. Here are my most important resolutions:

  1. Save money: We have a wedding in 6 months.
  2. No more charging: Pay off the credit card by the end of 2014. It can be done!
  3. Losing weight (of course) and sticking to it. There is no reason that I can't be as dedicated as I was 3-4 months of my life in 2012, now. Let's do this!
  4. Leaving the past in the past- I have had trouble letting things go. It's time to change that
  5. New job, new you. I need to get back to my main focus, and that's my Master's degree. Transferring to a new job will help me focus more on school
  6. Chic-Hippie. I have become a person that I feel, I am not. I want to fix my wardrobe. Yes, I said wardrobe!
Now I know it seems like my resolutions are high in numbers and may seem unattainable, but I believe that with enough daily motivation, they are exactly what I need. I have 364 and counting to prove that I can do it!

Although I didn't marry this year, I married a few days before 2013 began, it was our first year of marriage, and a challenging one at that. But, it is official, I can say that I have been married and have survived for one year! Someone told me that if we can make it past the first year, then we will be just fine. I think that there are many stages to a marriage. To include: first house that the Army pays for versus first house that we pay for, having kids, careers, etc. I think the idea to keep in mind with Mike and I, is that we will be constantly changing. Keeping up with that change is going to be the most challenging part!

The obvious, Army life happened this year, and I can't tell you how satisfied and UNsatisfied I am with it. The Army moved us to Germany which was quite possibly the only time we will ever have to travel. Man is it pricy! We are lucky that the rent is payed for. If you look back to some of my older posts you will see some of the journeys and happenings from when we first traveled here. Including some of the time spent as an Army wife back home. I have really been slacking on keeping this updated partially because I got balls deep into my schoolwork and also because I was wrapped up in this new job that I have. I was hired as the Assistant Director for Parent and Outreach Services. A term that barely describes the job description. As much as I have enjoyed spending my time in that department working and doing my job, I found that I really do not enjoy getting the ass end of people's problems. Seriously- it's like these people come into the office thinking that I have no idea what it is like to have bills and pay for childcare. Well it's true, I don't have any idea what it's like. However, my husband still does all the same things that their husbands do and YES I DO feel your pain when it comes to that! I am sure that when  I am ready to have children I will find ways to responsibly care for them and try my best not to gripe and complain every time there is a change made.

I will try to remember that this life was and will never be simply handed to me because I 'deserved' it. Blood sweat and tears went into making me into the woman I am (big thanks to Mom & Dad), and same goes to the marriage that I so dearly hold and finally the life that is Germany. I can't tell you how many wives I have met that think they deserve things because their husband has done this or because he is such and such a rank thanks to his hard earned education. It is important to humble ourselves and remember why it is that we have these things here given to us. It is because our soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of their time in uniform, to protect our country. This is more of a commitment than I will ever make! But you won't truly see that sacrifice until you live day in and day out with soldiers and their families. And being a family member, we won't truly understand what that means until we are on the other side of that camera, Skyping with our husbands, wives and children, in the middle of an awful desert where we have to dig a hole to poop. I really do feel blessed to have a flushing toilet sometimes.

With all of that ranting being said, I think that Michael and I have really made a home for ourselves here in Germany. Our dog Dante, Archer of course and Peter are all here living happily together. Peter has undergone some emergency, last minute surgeries in result of his lack of chewing. I am hoping that we can resolve that soon. Dante decided it would be fun to chew up our brand new couch! Archer is still Archer, amazing, calm and a dick all at the same time. We have successfully trained Dante how to live calmly with the rabbit and not eat him. We have also trained him to sit, lay down, stay, hug, and play with us like a maniac.

Moving on, I haven't done much with Advocare. Unfortunately they did not approve it as an acceptable Home Based Business because apparently these types of products cannot be shipped to Germany. Even though USPS here on our side said that Advocare doesn't have any prohibited ingredients in it, it is still not allowed. So we could get in some major trouble if we did anything with it and tried to sell it, and got caught. I am however thinking that I want to step up and over the law, and hold a mixer anyways. We will see how things go.

Holidays this year were interesting. We hosted our first ever Thanksgiving dinner for about 20+ people, to include hungry single soldiers. It was insane! But everyone was so thankful to have a place to go and we were so happy to have wonderful people to surround ourselves with. On Christmas we had our favorite family, the McIntire's over (Missing Daddy McIntire). We cooked good food, played card games, talked and just reflected after the kids went to sleep. Christmas Day was fun and stressful to say the least- there was alot going on!! New Year's was the same. McIntire's came over for some food & drink & a wild party of three. HAHA. It was a great way to ring in the new year, especially with such good company.

Hmmm.... what else? How about the places we have traveled? Well since we both have horrid work schedules, we haven't left Germany yet. However, we were able to go to Berlin and see some amazing things. We also traveled to visit with Dante's family in a small town about 200 KM south from where we live. We went to our first Chirstkindle's Markt. (Christmas market) in Nurnberg. And we blew tons of money on each other for Christmas. (year one, it is to be expected).

Now to save money and plan for our WEDDING! Here are some photos of this year, in a nutshell (Because I am not sure of what else I want to write about)

Tata!
