Sprechen sie Deutsche?
This is a photo of the Marktplatz in Amberg, Germany. We spent the morning there shopping over the Memorial Day weekend! It was a little cold and rainy but it turned out to be a really great time. Mike and I are trying to learn German. I think this week I am going to buzz through the house with sticky notes and label everything in German. We need to know some words more while we are out on the economy shopping or eating. There is also a German class that the Army provides but it doesn't start until July. We are totally pumped though!
Some news for everyone? We don't have much to tell. I am starting to get back into my workout routine, as well as begin my AdvoCare business over here. Also, we bought some furniture and will post pictures whenever we get our stuff here. We now have a bunny rabbit in the house! He needed a home while his parents were on leave, but they decided just to give him to us so that he could get the proper attention that he needs. His name is Peter! Other than that, it has been pretty uneventful here in Germany this past week or so.
I am beginning to miss material things in the States already. I really really miss Moe's, which is seriously a bummer. I am trying to come up with some copy cat recipes for the queso and other dishes and I will probably have a Moe Monday here in my kitchen!! Other than that I miss the convenience of everything. I don't mean to complain, but American's are really lazy. Even the German couches are uncomfortable just for the mere fact that Germans don't sit on their couch much...HAHA (or so Mike believes) The only way you can get anything around here is if you wake up and move early enough to catch the stores before they close! And if I am shopping on the German economy, I have to go to multiple stores to find what I want. It isn't such a big deal, it is just different from what I am used to. I also miss my wine drinking friends... It was so nice to get together and drink some wine or something on the weekends or even during the week! Everyone here goes to bed early or has children or is breastfeeding and doesn't drink with me. So I end up drinking with Mike, but it's not the same as my girls! I guess I'll just have to be patient until I meet more people. :)
This is starting to feel more like a diary entry than a blog post honestly. It's 7 am and I have no creative bones in me today! On another note, I am starting the wedding planning process! I am so determined to make this ceremony happen. We have most of our ideas set, we just need to find a venue and set a date. We can't do that until Mike has enough leave time so I think we are going to sit down and do some math and determine when that may be. We are hoping to have the wedding and honey moon all at the same time, but we'll see. With the deployment coming up, he may be required to stay on base for as long as they are deployed, which also means no home visit during Christmas for Mike! But again, we don't know for sure what is happening. I will make it home for some parts of Christmas, although I'd like to be with him on Christmas if he is going to be here in Germany all alone. But no worries, I'll be sure to head to a Christmas Market before I come back in order to get tons of crazy German stuff for everyone at home!
For now, I have nothing more to share. Skype, FaceTime, Text, Viber, call... whatever you have to do, get a hold of me!
