Blonde Jokes...

Just a quick snapshot of what I've been up to in the past week....
My husband says he is excited to tell blonde jokes now...that I am back to blonde! It's been a while since I've updated. But when you hear about what I've been up to I am sure you'll understand. So he says- (off the top of my memory)
A blonde walks into a store
She asks the store owner 'How much for this TV?'
The store owner replies 'We don't sell TVs to Blondes'.
She leaves the store, dies her hair red and goes back
She asks the store owner again 'How much for this TV?'
The store owner replies 'Again, We don't sell TVs to Blondes'.
The blonde says 'How did you know it was me?'
The store owner replies 'Because that is a toaster, not a TV!'.

The BEST part about when he told me this joke, was when my good friend didn't understand what he meant. I immediately got it, proving that at heart, I'm probably not THAT blonde. However, even after we explained the joke, she didn't get it. BLONDE!!

Leaving my job early on last minute notice was probably the best decision I have ever made when it comes to the Army and when we are being sent off! As I was logging in to the website to get ready and type my blog for the evening, I came across a blog that said 'Top 10 PCS mistakes' and immediately clicked on it. On Friday, I sat by the phone for hours, waiting for Mike to call me with the information we needed from transportation to begin the move process. Mind you, they now want to move me, Archer, Mike, and everything that we own in the next three weeks. In my head I am immediately thinking, oh my, that's not going to happen! So we had to allow a friend of ours to oversee the move when we are gone, meaning we won't have a vehicle or any of our household goods for about a month and a half. I think I am going to consider it a vacation and eat out everyday. (Just kidding, that's an even worse idea!) So naturally, any good tips on this process I am willing to listen to! Here are a few that I directly related to:

Putting too much stock in your orders. When the military tells you you’re moving somewhere and finally issues those orders it certainly seems definite. But we know everything can change. That’s a lesson fan Beverly learned the hard way when their orders to Alaska were change at the last minute to Fort Campbell, Ky. … AFTER they shipped their vehicle north and bought a lot of cold weather gear.
Not grabbing a hard copy of your medical records. Sure, the clinic says your medical records will follow you to your next duty station. But the time to find they did not isn’t after you’ve already moved five states away. Avoid this one by hand carrying your records and those of your kids station to station. If only fan Nancy had known this ahead of time. “Now they won’t send a complete record to the new doctor’s office … HUGE pain to deal with.”

The very LAST thing I have ever thought of was the fact that orders can change at anytime! I couldn't imagine getting everything ready to leave for Germany and then having the trip be cancelled because orders have changed! You wouldn't believe what I have to put Archer through on top of everything else....I don't even want to get into that.

I am proud to say that I have surpassed the next mistake. I managed to get a copy of all of my medical records. They are in a nice manilla envelope waiting for me to ship overseas. I saw it as a huge challenge and was very confused as to why no one asked me to get copies sent anywhere before moving.

So aside from the stress of moving that my husband completely doesn't get...(which is totally fine.) I am looking forward to begin a new chapter of my life. It is extremely hard to balance everyone at home over the next few weeks, simply because time is precious. However, I am trying very hard to do what I can with whomever I can!
As of right now, I feel like I have nothing more creative to say.
This week Mike will be in the field for 5 days so we won't talk. I'm sure my creative mind will be running this week! I also see it as a great opportunity to do all of the homework that I won't be working on during the last week of April... so exciting!
